چکیده
background: the current study aimed to test the hypothesis: is suicide predictable? and try to classify the predictive factors in multiple suicide attempts. methods: a cross-sectional study was administered to 223 multiple attempters, women who came to a medical poison centre after a suicide attempt. the participants were young, poor, and single. a logistic regression analiysis was used to classify the predictive factors of suicide. results: women who had multiple suicide attempts exhibited a significant tendency to attempt suicide again. they had a history for more than two years of multiple suicide attempts, from three to as many as 18 times, plus mental illnesses such as depression and substance abuse. they also had a positive history of mental illnesses. conclusion: results indicate that contributing factors for another suicide attempt include previous suicide attempts, mental illness (depression), or a positive history of mental illnesses in the family affecting them at a young age, and substance abuse.

متن کاملIs genetic evolution predictable?
Ever since the integration of Mendelian genetics into evolutionary biology in the early 20th century, evolutionary geneticists have for the most part treated genes and mutations as generic entities. However, recent observations indicate that all genes are not equal in the eyes of evolution. Evolutionarily relevant mutations tend to accumulate in hotspot genes and at specific positions within ge...

JULY 2003 AMERICAN METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETY | A recent analysis of 12 statistical and dynamical models used for El Niño predictions finds that at the long (1–2 yr) and even medium (6–11 months) ranges there were “no models that provided useful and skillful forecasts for the entirety of the 1997/98 El Niño” (Landsea and Knaff 2000). Most of the models were wrong in predicting the timing of the ons...
متن کاملIs Scientific Collaboration Sustainability Predictable?
This work aims to explore whether the sustainability of scientific collaboration including collaboration duration and collaboration times can be predicted. For this purpose, we propose a series of features including structural similarity indices, authorship properties, and research interests. Experimental results on a real-world dataset show that our proposed model outperforms baseline model by...

BACKGROUND First degree relatives of patients with allergic diseases are at increased risk of having the disorder. However, it is not clear whether two such related patients with allergic diseases are sensitive to the same antigens or not. متن کاملIs HER2 amplification predictable by digital immunohistochemistry?
Background In the last decade anti-HER2 treatment became one of the best examples for targeted treatment. Since the aggressive behavior of HER2-positive breast cancers could have been successfully reduced by trastuzumab therapy, HER2 positive breast cancers recently show improving prognosis. According to a four-tiered classification of international clinical guidelines, cases with strong and co...
